得辉介绍，远到轩家担任护院。远母到胡家欲阻止，但远却一意孤行，碧等人更私下认为远欲亲近雪而特意到胡家工作。龙明白远到胡家是为了保护轩后，怒不可遏。得雪与远协助，轩成功迫辉留在盐栈工作。辉出外收账却把金钱输掉，最终与父亲吵翻更离家出走。嫣刻意让碧与安不能幽会，令自己可以接近安。安从碧口中得知轩病重，特意带众盐商与龙到访，想不到此时正亦出现。这边厢，病重的轩欲离床与盐商们见面，但雪与坚却不欲轩的病情加重而阻止。正再向远查问龙之事，想不到龙却躲在暗处偷听。
